World of Emotions Meets Twitter Users

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

We are glad to announce an integration of our geo emotional service with Twitter.

The idea itself is simple and straight forward. Every now and then @worldofemotions makes so called emotional sample of user tweets. This sample is analysed and every tweet gets labelled according to a detected emotional content.

Every twitter user is notified once his/her tweet is detected as an emotional one. So far twitter users reaction is mainly positive, even they see imperfections all around. Here is an quote from @caseyannwmu: “Oh My God. I’m being re-tweeted by @worldofemotions. Wow. Just. Wow.”

At the moment our analysis is rather basic, but we are constantly improving it. A solid scientific endorsement for our service is on the way.

Soon we implement a full bi-directional integration with Twitter, when it will be possible to communicate to twitter users directly from our site.

Strangers May Cheer You Up, Study Says

Monday, September 21st, 2009

How happy you are may depend on how happy your friends’ friends’ friends are, even if you don’t know them at all. And a cheery next-door neighbor has more effect on your happiness than your spouse’s mood. So says a new study that followed a large group of people for 20 years — happiness is more contagious than previously thought. Overall, the results suggest that happiness might spread through a population like a virus.

So let’s spread happiness around the world! :)

3 New Features: Pictures, Reply and Cheer Up

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

In view of our recent anniversary, we have released 3 new features to make the Live Log of the site even more attractive and at the end make more people happier. :)

Our current observations tell us that the Live Log is the most popular place on our site. So, we decided to follow you, dear users, and concentrate our effort on this part of the site. As a result you can now 1) share your emotions along with pictures and links. For that you need to register. That’s free and takes only a minute. You can also 2) reply to posts of others with your emotion and a comment, as well as 3) provide your emotional support to either people who are feeling negatively (Cheer up) or people feeling positively (Join). Just click on a small balloon to share a quantum of your positive energy with that person. For that you don’t need to register, but remember the more information you provide about yourself the more precise you get positive quantums from others addressed to you and therefore feel yourself happier. If you are just a Guest all quantums of positive energy sent to you will be dispersed in your city, country and you will only get a small part of it. So, just register to make sure positive quantums addressed to you will reach their target — you! One more thing: whenever you Reply or Join or Cheer up a person, the record of that person along with your comments jumps to the top of the Live Log. Have fun! ;)

World of Emotions, 3 Months Online

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Today we are celebrating a small anniversary: our site is online for 3 months! I know it’s a bit early for a retrospective but I just want to make this post for a historical reference.

A bit more than 3 months ago Alexander Danilin proposed to have a site on which people around the world can share their feelings and mood in an easy and intuitive way by clicking on an emotion icon answering one simple question: “How are you?” and then showing their emotions on a world map. Since then the site went through a number of changes leaving, however, the basic idea intact. Our vision is to make as many people as possible to be happy and positive. :)

We’re working hard at continuing to improve and enhance the site. Have a look around and please let us know what you think. Your thoughts on the intuitiveness of the site’s navigation, features and the idea in general would be welcome feedback. Thanks for checking us out!
